How to edit the footer in Shopify
The footer is where shoppers look for shipping info, contact details, and your social accounts. It's built from blocks you can change in the theme editor.
1. Edit the footer section
- Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize and click the Footer section at the bottom.
- Add or edit blocks: Menu (pick a menu from Navigation), Text for a short about-us blurb, and Image or brand information if your theme has them.
- Add your social accounts in Theme settings > Social media, then turn on social media icons in the footer.
- Change the footer's links themselves in Content > Menus (or Online Store > Navigation).
2. Change what the settings don't cover
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes. On your theme, click the ... menu and choose Duplicate, so you have a backup. Then on the theme you're editing, open the ... menu and choose Edit code.
- Open the footer section (often sections/footer.liquid) to change layout or add things like trust badges.
- Check the footer on mobile, where columns stack and long menus get long.
3. Or ask Liquify in one sentence
Liquify is an AI theme editor for Shopify. Type the change in plain words and it edits your theme for you, on a draft copy, with a live preview. Nothing changes on your store until you publish.
